Major Livestock Show Entries - November 14th and 15th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM

This is a reminder that we will be collecting Major Livestock Show Entry Forms  on Tuesday, November 14th, and Wednesday, November 15th, at the Travis County Extension office. We will not start to collect forms until 5:00 - 8:00 pm.

An Agent (Mellanie) will be on hand to help with collection and reviewing of forms.
This method allows families to get an idea of who will be going to the major shows and get to know one another. This will also allow for questions to be asked and answered form our veterans. The process can be overwhelming at times and we want to make sure all of our families have a great experience.

All completed forms with payment are due no later than November 22, 2017.

Updates and reminders regarding some of the shows:
-  Stay on top of the health requirements for the shows
- Houston will have a Food Challenge - teams who placed first and second in their age category may compete
- Houston's indemnity form must be notarized

***We will have a notary on site for the Houston entry form on Tuesday, November 14th only***
Notary will be here until 8:00 pm.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday & Wednesday evening!!

Caldwell-Travis SWCD Poster and Essay Contest

The Caldwell-Travis Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) invites 4H kids to take part in a poster and essay contest with the theme of “Healthy Soils are Full of Life”.  The poster contest is open to students 12 years of age and under.  The essay contest has two categories, one for students 13 and under and one for students 14-18 years of age.  Each category will have cash awards listed on the entry forms and the top contestants will move to higher levels that provide scholarships to the winners.  Also, in the forms you will find links with more information regarding the contests.  All entries must be received by December 15, 2017.

Travis County is split between two different Soil and Water Conservation Districts.  The Caldwell-Travis Conservation District includes Caldwell County and the southern half of Travis County.  The county is split at the Colorado River.  So this contest would only be for the kids that live south of the river in Travis or Caldwell Counties.
