2020-2021 Texas 4-H Photography Contest

I would like to share with you the following message from Derrick Bruton regarding the 2020-2021 Texas Photography Contest and some changes to the submission process that will take place this year:

"As a friendly reminder, this contest is only open to senior 4-H members and photos for this contest qualify from county to state.  District photography contests have no bearing on qualification.

I also want to announce a slight change in the registration process.  This change will enable us to have photos entered directly into the online judging system while also maintaining your approvals of eligibility within 4HOnline.

Members will continue to make category selections and pay for entries on 4HOnline, but will now upload their photos in a separate system called Submittable (the same platform we used last year for online judging).  When a member completes his/her 4HOnline registration, he/she will receive an automated email with a link and instructions to upload their photos into Submittable.

The entry timeline is April 1-15, which applies to both 4HOnline and Submittable.  After the 15th, neither system will accept late entries."  These entries will show up as pending until they are approved at the county level (we can only approve one entry per category) and at the state level.

I am also including the letter for the contest below:

CEP State 4-H Photography Contest: Update

We are excited to announce that this year we will be holding our first ever CEP 4-H Photography Contest!  This contest will be open to all 4-H members in the junior and intermediate age groups.  Seniors are unable to enter, since there is already a state photography contest for seniors.  However, seniors who are interested in judging can contact me to act as judges for photos from 4-H'ers who do not reside in their counties.  Please see the flyer and the letter outlining the rules and categories below.  Please note that some of the categories vary a little from those used in the other 4-H Photography Contests.  Please email your photos to me at Nathan.Tucker@agnet.tamu.edu.

UPDATE:  I am happy to announce that HEB has graciously decided to contribute to our contest.  They have provided $20 gift cards to be given out to each Best in Show winner in the contest.  I have updated the letter to reflect this.  Thank you to HEB for their generous support.

RARITAN TWP., NJ. — Team Velvet, Inc is seeking submissions of black and white line drawings suitable for coloring for “A Horse Of A Different Color” coloring book.

Team Velvet, Inc. helps children overcome trauma with the help of three therapy horses. On its website is a section “Fun Stuff For Kids” which includes printable coloring pages to download and color. Team Velvet would like to expand the selection of coloring pages from a variety of young artists.

All youth up through high school are invited to submit artwork for consideration.

Drawings must be simple, black and white line drawings that fit on 8.5 by 11-inch paper, ideal for children ages 5 to 12 to color. The drawings can include one or more of the Team Velvet, Inc, horses, but that is not required. Drawings should fit with the theme of love and happiness but not be religious.

The staff of Team Velvet, Inc. will select several to be displayed on the website in the Fun Stuff for Kids’ with credit provided to the artist. Some submissions will be used to create a coloring book which will be used as a fundraiser for Team Velvet, Inc. and possibly other non-profits. All artists who submit a drawing will get a printable certificate of service from the organization. The artist and a parent or guardian must sign a release form granting Team Velvet, Inc. permission to use the artwork on its website, for fundraising, as part of a coloring book, and other purposes.

Sponsorships to cover the cost of printing the coloring book are also being accepted.

See www.teamvelvet.com/art-contest for submission information and the release form.

E-mail lrshupe@frontiernet.net with questions.

About Team Velvet: Each day there is a child who experiences the death of a loved one, is a witness to violence, is victimized by crime or intense bullying, is disfigured by an accident, or experiences countless other events — all resulting in severe childhood trauma. If left unaddressed, in the extreme, child trauma may cause flashbacks, blackouts, and may result in severe damage. Team Velvet, Inc. (609) 924-4330 provides multi-modal horse therapy for traumatized children ages 5 to 12 years with psychologist Dr. Susan Edwards. Therapy horses may be involved in interactive games, kick a soccer ball, dance, or be taught liberty performance. Children do not ride the horses; they interact while working toward goals of increased self-esteem and resiliency.
