The first Ultimate Scramble Championship was a huge success,
awarding $79,000 in certificates in one day. USC, Rodeo Austin’s revamped Calf
Scramble program, is an all-day tournament in which competitors catch calves
and top contestants advance to the next round. The Ultimate Scramble Champion
will be awarded $5,000, and all who catch are guaranteed at least $1,000 to
purchase the market or breeding animal of their choice to raise and show at the
2014 Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo. Contestants must pay $25 to enter and
entries are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Entries will open up on October
1, 2012. USC will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013.
Talk with the county extension office to get registered. Must be enrolled in 4-H Connect to be eligible to register.
