A
Texas 4-H Wildlife Habitat Education Project (WHEP) Practice Contest will be held March 19th in Gainesville
(Cooke County), 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Registration is currently
open on 4-H Connect and will close March 4th.
This practice contest is open
to any current 4-H member or volunteer who is interested in a wildlife project
or specifically WHEP. The practice contest is designed to train youth and
adults in how to prepare for and participate in a 4-H WHEP Contest. All
participants will be taken through a WHEP contest modified to fit the time
frame. Each activity will be covered to give participants details about
the activities and experience in each. All official answers will be
provided following each activity as well as a question/answer time. This
format is the only and best ‘training’ provided for youth and adults interested
in learning more about 4-H WHEP. It is also a great way to add to an
existing team’s training.
All participants should spend
time prior to the Practice Contest reviewing the 2015 4-H WHEP Manual
which is found on the 4-H Wildlife & Fisheries webpage (http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/projects/wildlife-fisheries/).
The rules within the Manual are specifically for the National WHEP
Contest held for Senior 4-H members only. A complete list of rules and
procedures specific to this Practice Contest are in the WHEP Practice
Contest Rules and Procedures - Cooke County document attached to this
email.
