Texas 4-H will sponsor 20 youth and 2 adult chaperones from
Japan this summer as part of the States 4-H International Exchange Program,
which is in need of 10 more host families!!
Host Families are asked to provide housing and three meals a
day for the four week period. There are no other expectations beyond that. The
program is designed to be a truly immersive experience, so whatever is the
normal summer routine is what the Japanese delegate would experience. Statewide
activities are NOT scheduled; some regional gatherings may be offered but participation
is not required at those either. This is a great way to expand cultural
diversity and provide an opportunity to learn about the Japanese culture.
Placements have already been made in the following counties:
Bastrop, Denton, Wood, Smith, Parker, Terry, Bexar, Cherokee and Johnson.
Another 10 host families are still needed.
To host a youth delegate ages 11-14, there should be a host
youth of the same gender and similar age. Families without children at home are
allowed to host the adult chaperones for either two or four weeks. Youth
delegate hosts for the entire four week period.
Interested families should apply directly online at http://www.states4Hexchange.org/ Once the
application is completed, Doc Locke’s office will contact them to arrange an
In-Home Visit and Orientation. Please let Mellanie know if you have questions
or need additional information, including FAQs or about the Ambassadors
themselves, at 512-854-9600 or MLMickelson@ag.tamu.edu.
