Gold Swing Camp and Golf Challenge

The Texas 4-H Golf Swing
Camp will be for 4-Hers of all ages and all skill levels. This fun and exciting
camp will provide instruction to youth on chipping, pitching, putting, full
swing, and trouble shots. Instructors from the Campus Course at Texas A&M
University will provide individualized attention to each participant to ensure
each youth leaves more confident in their golf swing and enjoys their

In 2014 changes are
being made to the Texas 4-H Golf Challenge Program. There will be no regional
events hosted this year. Instead one State event will be hosted at the brand
new course located on the campus at Texas A&M University. The Campus Course
at Texas A&M University is in its first year and is being rated as one of
the top new golf courses in Texas. This event will be open to all age
4-Hers and split into two age divisions (Juniors 12 and under and Seniors 13
and up). This event is also open to non 4-Hers. Please pass this event on to
any clientele you feel would be interested.
Photo Display at the State Capitol
During the month of April, visitors to the State Capitol can view
stunning photographs of the diversity of Texas agriculture in the exhibit Picturing
Texas Agriculture. One hundred students in 4-H and Future
Farmers of America (FFA) from throughout the state submitted images to a
photography contest. The prize-wining images in eight different
categories will be displayed in the Capitol ground floor rotunda. Picturing
Texas Agriculture opens on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, and will
remain on display through Sunday, April 27, 2014.
The free exhibit in the Capitol ground floor rotunda is open daily

STATE PRESERVATION BOARD
The State Preservation Board preserves and maintains the Texas
Capitol, the Capitol Extension, Capitol Grounds and the 1857 General Land
Office Building (now the Capitol Visitors Center) for the benefit of the
citizens of Texas. The State Preservation Board also operates the Bullock Texas
State History Museum and preserves and maintains the Governor’s Mansion. In
addition to its preservation and long-term care for these important Texas
landmarks, this state agency further fulfills its mission by educating the
public about Texas history through tours, public programs and exhibits.

D4 AE4-HA Photography Contest
The
Texas Association of Extension 4-H Agents (TAE4-HA), a professional Extension
organization for County Extension Agents, Specialists, and Extension
Administrators for the purpose of professionalism, collaboration, and youth
development. The members from District IV delegation are hosting a photography
contest for youth and adults to provide scholarship funds for district level
4-H leadership events, such as Fall Focus, District Lockin and Leadership Lab.
ALL photos must be received by the District IV Photography
Committee Chair by 5 p.m. on May 15, 2014.

deadline for the District 10 Photography Contest is approaching this
Friday, March 28th. For photos to be considered for the District 10
Contest, youth must register their photos on 4-H Connect and upload the

2014 Outdoor Challenge

Steer Tag Orders for 2014-2015
If you plan to exhibit a Market Steer at
Travis County or the major shows, tags will need to be ordered. Tags are
$12.00 each. Order form along with payment is due to the county

Calling All Young Chefs - Time to Break Out Your Chef Hat!
First Lady Michelle Obama is
again teaming up with the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of
Agriculture, and Epicurious to host a nationwide recipe challenge to promote
cooking and healthy eating among America’s youth. We’re inviting parents or
guardians and their children, ages 8-12, to submit an original lunch recipe
that is healthy, affordable, and tasty, with the opportunity to be invited to
attend a Kids' "State Dinner" here at the
White House where a selection of the winning healthy recipes will be served.

Fuel Up to Play 60 - Healthy Living Ambassador Program
The Texas 4-H Youth Development Program is pleased to
announce the establishment of the 4-H Fuel Up To Play 60/Healthy Living
Ambassador Program. Applications to serve as an ambassador are currently being
accepted and will be accepted until April 15th. This ambassador
group is replacing the current healthy lifestyles advisory board.
The purpose of the 4-H Fuel Up To Play 60/Healthy Living
Ambassador Program is to:
·
Promote the purpose and goals of the 4-H healthy
lifestyles program through Fuel Up To Play 60;
·
Empower youth by giving them the opportunity to
provide leadership to the 4-H healthy lifestyles program as it relates to Fuel
Up To Play 60; and
·
Equip youth to serve as a leader to implement
the Fuel Up To Play 60 Program in local schools.
Requirements for ambassadors include:
·
4-H members must be at least 15 years old at the
beginning of the 2014-15 4-H year.
·
Ambassadors will serve a two-year term.
·
All youth accepted as ambassadors will be
required to participate in a training and planning session June 30 – July 1st
in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and pay any associated travel and registration
costs.
