If you plan to participate in the State Fair of Texas in Dallas, entries are due to the Travis County Extension Office by Monday, August 10th.

Animals - must have been valuated, but the various contests are open for entering.

Must be at least 13 years of age at time of the event

We are accepting 30 youth.

I need the registration papers back by Tuesday, July 21, 2015, this can be emailed, faxed or mailed.

Attached is the registration packet with a tentative schedule.  We stay in the dorms on the ASU campus.

We do request that there is a chaperone with the youth you send, because we are the ones that drive the youth to different locations on the tour.

Building a Movement Youth Summit

The inaugural Building A Movement Youth Summit for youth ages 12 – 22 will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

Presented by the Department of Recreation, Park & Tourism Sciences (RPTS) Youth Development Program in collaboration with DSHS, this one-day conference is an opportunity for youth and young adults in Texas to build positive relationships, gain knowledge, and create action plans  to address youth-related issues in their communities. Summit presenters will discuss the process of engaging and empowering youth in their communities and evaluating the services that affect their lives.

We want to see you there! In the coming days you will receive a link to the registration website. If you are interested in Building A Movement in your community, collaborating with partners around the state, or have an interest in youth voice, then this summit is for you! 

Registration Costs prior to August 1st:

Youth Participant (ages 12-22): $35

Adult Chaperone: $15

Breeding Sheep Showers

This does fall at the beginning of TCYS, but passing along just in case.

Dear Sheep Producer/Exhibitor/Supporter:

 The Hill Country District Junior Livestock Show in Kerrville, TX is EXCITED to announce that our District show will now be open to Junior breeding sheep exhibitors state-wide!  What do we have to offer these youth?

·        We show ALL breeds of registered sheep; classes include:  Delaine, Dorper, Hampshire, Rambouillet, Southdown, Suffolk and Other Registered Breeds

·        We show 6 age classes in each breed:  lamb, two-tooth and aged in both ewes and rams.

·        We pay guaranteed premium money to the top six places, regardless of entry number.  And we often have extra add-on premium money as well!

·        Breed champions receive an extra $ 150 premium (ram and ewe).

·        Reserve breed champions receive an extra $ 50 premium (ram and ewe).

·        The reserve supreme ewe receives an additional $ 500 premium.

·        The supreme ewe receives a $ 3000 scholarship and belt buckle.

·        The supreme ram receives a belt buckle.

·        It is a quick show – check in on Tuesday, January 16 from 12 noon – 7 p.m., show on Wednesday, January 17 starting at 8 a.m.  Exhibitors are released as soon as they finish showing. (this leaves plenty of time to get to the Ft Worth show)
