Take Care of Texas Video Contest





Take Care of Texas and Waste Management of Texas, Inc. invite students to submit a 30-second video public service announcement that portrays positive ways Texans can help keep our air and water clean, conserve water and energy, or reduce waste. Three 9th-12th grade students with the best videos will be awarded scholarship funds; 1st place - $2,500, 2nd place - $1,500, and 3rd place - $500. Three 6th-8th grade students with the best videos will be awarded GroPros cameras with accessories.

The contest closes Dec. 16, 2016. The videos will then go through three rounds of judging, including a public voting period from Jan. 11 – 25, 2017. More contest details are available here.

The entry forms for the San Antonio and Houston livestock shows have been posted to the Travis 4-H website.  You can click here to access the forms.  Please note that contest forms have not been posted.  If you'd like a contest entry form, contact John and he'll email you a copy.  Remember - all major show entries must be at the Extension office by 5:00 PM on Monday, November 14, 2016.

District 9 Shooting Sports Coaches Training




The District 9 4-H Youth Development Program will be offering a 4-H Shooting Sports Leaders/Coaches training on December 3-4, 2016 in Angleton, TX. 

Registration will open in 4-H Connect on October 14th, will close on Friday, November 15 and is listed as District 9 Coach's Shooting Sports Training. Late registration will be accepted from November 16th -21st.   ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A CURRENT AND APPROVED 4‐H CONNECT PROFILE TO REGISTER. Registration is non‐refundable, but may be transferred to another person within the same county 4‐H program.

Please see that this information is shared with any potential coaches to ensure everyone is informed.

If you have questions, please let Cory Hundl or Cameron Arias know.   Additional details, waiver and a final agenda will be sent to those who register. This training will be open for registration statewide.

2016 Travis County 4-H Food Challenge

Information for this year's county Food Challenge has been posted to the website.  To register a team for the Food Challenge, use the form found here.  Registration will be available until October 21.  There will be a $10.00 per team fee to participate and the fee will be collected on the night of the competition.

Shooting Sports Coaches Training



The District 5 4‐H Youth Development Program is pleased to announce an opportunity for county 4‐H programs to have adult volunteers, teen leaders and County Extension Agents certified as coaches in the following shooting sports disciplines: archery, pistol, shotgun or rifle. The training and certification will be conducted on November 5 - 6, 2016 at the Rusk Civic Center in Rusk, Texas. The training will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5th and conclude the following day as disciplines complete the necessary information.

Registration is open on 4-H Connect and will close at midnight Monday, October 24th –  https://texas.4honline.com . ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A CURRENT AND APPROVED 4‐H CONNECT PROFILE TO REGISTER. Registration is non‐refundable, but may be transferred to another person within the same county 4‐H program.
